Job description

Senior Private Client Solicitor
Bury or Rochdale
£50,000 + (DoE)

My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Private Client Solicitor to join their reputable and growing legal practice. This role offers the opportunity to develop into the Head of Department within two years, providing the right candidate with a clear and exciting career progression path. As a Senior Private Client Solicitor, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional legal services to high-net-worth individuals, managing complex estates, and advising on key matters in Wills, Trusts, Probate, and Estate Planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Wills and Estate Planning: Assisting in the creation and drafting of Wills, ensuring they align with the clients' desires while adhering to the relevant legal requirements.
  2. Probate and Estate Administration: Supporting clients with estate administration, including applying for Grants of Probate and guiding them through the estate distribution process.
  3. Inheritance Tax & Trusts: Offering expert guidance on inheritance tax matters, estate planning strategies, and the creation of trusts to meet clients’ objectives.
  4. Trust Formation and Management: Aiding in the drafting, setup, and ongoing management of trusts, ensuring all legal and financial factors are properly addressed.
  5. Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection: Drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney and assisting with Court of Protection applications to safeguard clients’ interests.
  6. Legal Research & Communication: Conducting legal research to remain updated on relevant legal developments and drafting clear, professional correspondence.
  7. Business Development & Content Creation: Developing and sharing articles and thought leadership content across social media channels to boost the firm’s visibility and client engagement.
  8. Caseload Management: Effectively managing a diverse caseload with appropriate supervision, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality legal services and fostering strong client relationships.
  9. Support to Senior Colleagues: Assisting senior team members with complex cases and transactions, offering support and contributing insights as needed.
  10. Compliance & Legal Standards: Ensuring strict adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining high compliance standards and minimizing risks.
Experience & Skills Required:
  1. Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Wills, Trusts, and Probate law (or relevant experience gained through roles such as legal trainee or paralegal).
  2. Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Ability to independently handle a caseload with minimal supervision while consistently maintaining high service standards.
  4. A client-centered approach with the ability to cultivate and maintain long-term relationships.
  5. Proactive, collaborative, and committed to continuous professional development.
  6. Experience working with high-net-worth clients or handling complex estates is highly preferred.
  7. STEP membership or equivalent professional qualifications such as TEP is advantageous.
  8. Membership with the Association of Lifetime Lawyers is a plus.
