Job description

Job Purpose

The role of Senior Private Banker is to develop and maintain a portfolio of 100+ private banking clients and to assist them with their banking, credit and investment related needs. Provide regulated mortgage and investment advice to clients and generate income from the client portfolio. Develop strong relationships with clients and clearly communicate the product offering of the Private Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • To take personal responsibility for a portfolio of high net worth clients, heading their complete banking relationship with Weatherbys.
  • To fully understand the potential banking needs of both private banking and business clients and generate sustained revenue growth over long-term proactive relationships.
  • Identify and recruit potential new clients.
  • Increase the volume of client lending and deposits.
  • Increase assets under advice in the investment and wealth advice (IWA) service, provide compliant investment advice including suitability, and undertake on-going monitoring of a client’s investments to ensure continued suitability.
  • Take full responsibility for credit, lending and security documentation for own portfolio of clients.
  • Put the clients ‘interests’ first and execute client instructions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage excess control of accounts and sanction credit applications for clients using delegated lending authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all FCA Principles and Rules, other statutes and regulations, investment, mortgage and other Weatherbys standards and procedures whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Ensure level of training and competence is in line with regulatory investment and regulatory mortgage requirements.
  • Handle all regulated and non- regulated complaints received.
  • Manage the portfolio lending quality, including management of bad and doubtful debts.

Skill Requirements

  • Exceptional client servicing and relationship management skills with High Net worth Clients and demonstrable experience in building and managing this client base.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent technical banking knowledge and experience of the financial services industry.
  • Strong Knowledge of global economic and political conditions, current affairs and competitor activity and the impact of these on clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of regulated credit agreements/investment advice/ deposits/ portfolio management services/ financial promotions.
  • Significant experience in managing client portfolios with respect to client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of the process of assessing both creditworthiness and suitability.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the property purchasing process/ security valuation/ functioning of land register/ account opening.
  • Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft Word/ Excel
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Proactive and innovate approach with a positive attitude.
