Job summary

Ramboll in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior/Principal Town Planner to lead planning strategy, manage applications and support development and infrastructure projects. Qualifications

  • Professional Membership of the RTPI.

  • The ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to liaise with colleagues and maintain good client relationships.
  • A keenness for professional development and progression.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on planning strategy and project manage applications and appeals across sectors.
  • Lead or support on planning strategy, applications and related tasks as part of Ramboll’s Town Planning team.
  • Contribute to business development, including fee proposals, tender submissions and marketing materials.

Join our Town planning department as our newSenior/ Principal Town Planner and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role
You will bring your current knowledge of Town Planning into play as you take the lead, or help lead on planning applications, strategy and providing day to day planning advice. We will afford you the opportunity to grow drive sustainable change through all stages in the project lifecycle across both development and infrastructure projects.

To succeed in these roles, you will work with others to apply a broad understanding of Town Planning in the UK, in all stages of the project lifecycle from early-stage feasibility/risk appraisal, through to delivery of planning conditions, obligations and scheme revision.

You will also need the skills to disseminate and convey changes in the planning system across Ramboll, to Clients and the team in which you will work and have an aspiration to or currently be capable of forming good Client relationships. We encourage our teams to work toward such relationships, rather than advise solely on a project basis.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Work with senior members of the team to advise on planning strategy, and project managing applications and appeals across a broad range of sectors.
  • Work towards or lead others in such work or work, being a core part of Ramboll’s Town Planning team and be recognised as a key person within the team.
  • Contribute to business development activities where appropriate, including the preparation of fee proposals, tender submissions, marketing materials and presentations but most importantly, be willing to engage with Clients.
  • Support the team’s leadership and wider management with team functions, including, where appropriate, mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Develop relationships, build networks and collaborate with Ramboll’s technical specialists.
  • Represent Ramboll at meetings with clients and at networking events, where appropriate.

You will be part of our wider Development team, albeit working on both development and infrastructure projects. This is part our Global Impact Assessment Service Line which been especially successful in driving further growth, targeting large, strategic projects – though not exclusively. Our projects are wide ranging and diverse and include housing, mixed use, regeneration, energy, highways and data centres.

More widely, our UK business employs experts 19 locations and covers a breadth of consulting services structured around Town Planning and impact assessment, compliance, strategy and transactions, new initiatives and sustainability, product safety and stewardship, contaminated land, and Water. Ramboll’s clients include UK and global multinationals, utilities, local and central government and international institutions.
