Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking a Lead/Principal Software Engineer to drive backend platforms for secure clients. Remote work while SC, with on-site Cheltenham 4 days post-DV, and a mix of private/public cloud deployments.

You will design, develop and deploy features using Java and JVM languages, participate in agile DevSecOps with Zero Trust, and own CI/CD pipelines while delivering robust, scalable services.

Qualifications

• Proven backend design, development and deployment experience for secure platforms.
• Experience delivering features across private/public cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, deploy and enhance backend features for secure platforms.
• Actively participate in elaboration and estimation of user stories.
• Build frequent, small releases to maintain momentum.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coverage and reliability.
• Build, optimise and operate CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain operational responsibility for services owned by your team.
