Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provide scientific leadership in the design and execution of AI-driven drug discovery strategies, focusing on target identification, ADMET modeling, and translational relevance.
  • Lead cross-functional collaborations between AI researchers, domain scientists, and external partners to align model capabilities with drug discovery needs.
  • Guide the development and prioritization of datasets and experimental pipelines to support model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Represent Microsoft Research in strategic planning and governance discussions with external partners, defining shared goals and communicating scientific progress.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision and architecture of modular AI systems supporting end-to-end drug discovery and development.
  • Mentor researchers across disciplines and foster a culture of scientific excellence, openness, and impact.
Qualifications
  • PhD in computational biology, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience leading interdisciplinary research in drug discovery or biomedical AI.
  • Deep understanding of drug discovery pipelines, translational science, and integration of AI with experimental biology and chemistry.
  • Knowledge of predictive modeling of molecular properties and biological responses, and strategic data generation and curation.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale collaborations across academia, industry, and global health organizations.
  • Strong publication record and excellent communication and leadership skills.
