A little more about your role…

At WSP, we love pushing boundaries. Harnessing innovation and sharing insights across our diverse, international team to create a cleaner, greener, and safer tomorrow. Join us and be part of an organization that takes pride in its people and purpose: creating long-lasting solutions to meet future energy needs.

In this role, you will be part of the Energy Transition Process team developing innovative solutions to complex problems, delivering projects at various stages of maturity. Working within a large multidisciplinary engineering group, you will oversee process plant designs for energy projects including power plants, carbon capture, hydrogen, gas networks, waste-to-energy, and industrial facilities.

This role is ideal if you have experience in concept, FEED, and detailed design work, and are familiar with working for OEMs, EPC contractors, or similar organizations. Experience in operations and maintenance, and understanding asset integrity processes, would be advantageous in providing technical advice on existing facilities.

Location is flexible across our UK office network.

You will lead the team to:
  • Deliver technically excellent solutions across a broad project portfolio.
  • Work on projects in various stages, including feasibility, concept, FEED, value engineering, and detailed design, with opportunities for site work.
  • Prepare process models, datasheets, heat and mass balances, flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation drawings, and process philosophies.
  • Maintain internal tools and calculations.
  • Provide technical and team leadership and governance.
  • Develop innovative designs that differentiate WSP.
  • Promote innovation and apply engineering principles to first-of-a-kind projects.
  • Collaborate with other teams and maximize cross-selling.
  • Support bid preparations and review, including pricing strategies.
  • Identify skills gaps and recruit technical staff.
  • Maintain and develop design processes and procedures.
  • Support UK-wide best practices and interface with GCC.
Your Team:

Our energy transition team covers low and zero-carbon technologies, working with private developers, utilities, governments, banks, contractors, and OEMs. Our teams are based in the UK, India, Ireland, and wider Europe, working internationally with clients across sectors.

We support clients throughout project lifecycle—from inception to decommissioning—delivering sustainable energy solutions.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Chartered Chemical Engineer membership.
  • Significant postgraduate process design experience.
  • Leadership desire in process deliverables.
  • Knowledge of power and energy project design, including low-carbon technologies.
  • Proven design process understanding and experience with calculations.
  • Experience with process design software such as Thermoflow, Aspen HYSYS, UniSim.
  • Experience working with clients and contractors with diverse objectives.
