Purpose

As a Senior Principal Piping Designer, you will be responsible for understanding the project's scope, schedule, deliverables, milestones, manhour budgets, industry standards, applicable codes, and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Determine line count and estimated isometric quantities based on P&ID's.
  • Be knowledgeable of client procedures, project procedures, and specifications.
  • Identify and request information in the form of a 'Needs List' to maintain schedule.
  • Utilize 3D model review software (AVEVA E3D/Navisworks) to monitor design quality and progress.
  • Review and approve deliverables prior to issue.
  • Coordinate the design effort with other engineering and design disciplines.
  • Ensure deliverable verification procedures are followed.
  • Piping drawing checking and verification experience in office and field is a plus.
  • Previous AVEVA 3D experience developing piping models, pipe supports, equipment models, isometric and orthographic drawing extraction is a plus.
  • Develop general arrangements of plant facilities, structures, and equipment considering safety, maintenance, and construction, interfacing with all disciplines.
  • Perform field design, including walk downs using P&ID's, locating tie points, routing pipe through existing facilities, and identifying pipe supports.
  • Experience with Laser Scanning and using scans within AVEVA E3D is a plus.
  • Experience with projects within existing facilities with obstructions and constraints.

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in piping and layout design for power generation and industrial facilities, with at least 2 years of AVEVA E3D experience.
  • Experience with Microstation V8i & AutoCAD.
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • 2 years of 3D model design review using AVEVA E3D.
Education

Required: Degree in a 2 or 3-year technical diploma with piping design training.

Preferred: An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
