Job summary

WSP invites hydrologists at all levels to join our Sustainable Water Management Consulting team in the UK, focusing on national infrastructure and flood risk projects.

You will lead hydrological contributions for clients, deliver water resources services for water companies, and contribute to climate resilience across sectors.

Although based in the UK, you will collaborate with global teams and benefit from our flexible hybrid working policy.

Qualifications

• Detailed understanding of UK hydrological techniques and knowledge of recent updates with a proven track record in high flow studies.
• Experience of reviews and calculations to satisfy UK statutory bodies (EA, SEPA, NRW or DfI).
• Commercial awareness, identifying and developing business opportunities and preparing winning proposals.
• Sound understanding of client needs, opportunities and challenges, with a track record of leading and winning work.
• Excellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead hydrological contributions for external and internal clients on national infrastructure and flood risk projects.
• Deliver hydrology and water resources management services to UK water companies and support water resource plans.

A Little More About Your Role …

WSP are looking for Hydrologists and Water Resources Hydrologists at all levels from Senior Consultant to Associate Director to join our Sustainable Water Management Consulting team.

Focussing on the delivery of a wide range of national infrastructure and flood risk management projects you will lead hydrological contributions for our external and internal clients. Based on your personal interests and strengths, you might find yourself contributing to

• Our national fluvial and pluvial modelling team to provide flood modelling services that support a wide range of projects, including Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) studies and strategic infrastructure initiatives across the energy, transport, government, and water sectors.
• The delivery of hydrology and water resources management services to UK water companies, aiding in the development of water resource and drought plans, new water supply assets, and supporting the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP).
• Water resource assessments for the industrial and energy sectors, contributing to climate resilience and adaptation planning.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate …

• Detailed understanding of UK hydrological techniques and knowledge of recent updates and active fields of development with a proven track record in undertaking high flow studies.
• Understanding and experience of carrying out reviews and calculations to satisfy UK statutory bodies (EA, SEPA, NRW or DfI)
• Commercial awareness, with experience of identifying and developing business opportunities as well as the preparation of winning proposals.
• A sound understanding of client needs, their opportunities and challenges, with a track record of leading and winning work.
• Excellent report-writing, technical review, numerical and analytical skills, with an eye for detail and enjoy solving challenging hydrological problems.
• Chartership with a relevant professional body (or commitment to work towards)
