A little bit more about your role:

As a Principal Engineer, you will focus on technical and project delivery of energy storage assignments and take a leading role in developing WSP’s services in this area.

Your duties will include:

• Leading and delivering high-quality technical services for feasibility, development, owner’s engineer, and technical due diligence assignments focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Providing technical input to BESS developments at each project development stage, including their integration with other electrical or generating plants.
• Training, supervising, and reviewing the work of junior and mid-level engineers, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Advising clients on project development and execution processes, key stages, timelines, and risks.
• Leading and supporting interface management between engineering and environmental disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, control & instrumentation, planning, environmental).
• Drafting and reviewing technical specifications, evaluating tenders, and supporting contractor negotiations.
• Engaging with clients through reviewing enquiries and preparing proposals for prospective projects.

YOUR TEAM

WSP has a long history in delivering high-quality technical advisory and management consultancy services focused on renewable energy, including offshore wind, onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS. We have worked on some of the world’s largest renewable projects and established relationships with leading developers, investors, and lenders globally.

Our core services include site layouts, feasibility studies, technical due diligence, lender’s technical advisory scopes, project development, and operational support for hybrid projects including BESS.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• A relevant engineering, technical, or scientific degree; post-graduation in renewable energy is preferred.
• In-depth technical, commercial, and field knowledge of BESS technologies and deployment.
• Strong understanding of emerging BESS technologies and international markets.
• Experience managing UK utility-scale sites at various stages.
• Leadership skills to manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Chartered Engineer status or in progress towards it.
• Ability to engage with clients and build relationships for future opportunities.
• Attention to detail, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
