Join us as a Senior Electrical / System Engineer in our Nuclear & Power Division and you'll deliver innovative consultancy advice to support our clients through the completion of safety assessments, engineering / design substantiation and operational support.

In the Electrical and System Engineering teams, you will join an expanding group supporting power generation, nuclear new build and decommissioning markets. You’ll help solve a wide variety of interesting problems for our clients during a significant period of growth. As you progress, you will develop and mentor teams of engineers to further support our growth.

Your purpose:

The role involves providing advice during the design, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear and power generation facilities, including:

  • Provision of specialist consultancy advice on power station high voltage apparatus.
  • Operational & Maintenance technical support including troubleshooting, condition assessment, failure investigation, performance optimization, legislative compliance, and process safety.
  • Specification of plant and equipment to meet process objectives.
  • Preparation of technical guidance documents and standards for asset management.
  • Plant assessments and life-extension exercises to aid investment decisions.
  • Review of plant equipment, systems, and operating regimes to identify improvements.
  • Assessment of plant as owner’s and bank’s engineer.
  • Technical due diligence for asset acquisition support.
  • Design, manufacture, and repair advice on high voltage electrical machines.
  • Preparation and delivery of technical training courses.

Additional responsibilities include supporting bids, safety initiatives, and liaising with operators, designers, and clients to build strong relationships.

What you can bring:

You should demonstrate:

  • Honours degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Good engineering judgment and fundamental skills.
  • Support of challenging projects.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Motivation to meet targets without compromising quality.
  • Self-awareness of technical limitations and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility for site work and applying skills in new areas.
  • Team management and independent working abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and influence skills (desirable).
  • Membership of IET and Chartered Engineer status (desirable).

Experience in some of the following areas is beneficial:

  • Understanding of HV electrical machines and systems.
  • Power station condition monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge of failure mechanisms and investigations.
  • Understanding of power generation technologies and HV plant.
  • Knowledge of site safety, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Operational plant troubleshooting experience.
  • Design and testing of electrical protection systems.
