Join us as a Senior Electrical / System Engineer in our Nuclear & Power Division, delivering innovative consultancy advice to support safety assessments, engineering/design substantiation, and operational support.

In the Electrical and System Engineering teams, you'll support power generation, nuclear new build, and decommissioning markets. You'll help solve diverse technical problems during a period of growth and develop and mentor engineering teams.

Your purpose:

The role involves advising during the design, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear and power plants, including:

  • Providing specialist consultancy on high voltage apparatus.
  • Supporting operations with troubleshooting, condition assessment, failure investigation, performance optimization, legislative compliance, and process safety at nuclear, thermal, and renewable sites.
  • Specifying plant and equipment to meet process goals.
  • Creating technical guidance documents and standards for asset management.
  • Assessing plants and extending their life for investment decisions.
  • Reviewing plant systems and operating regimes to identify improvements.
  • Assessing plant as owner’s and bank’s engineer.
  • Performing technical due diligence for asset acquisitions.
  • Advising on design, manufacture, and repair of high voltage electrical machines.
  • Delivering technical training courses.

Additional responsibilities include bid and proposal support, safety initiatives, and liaising with operators, designers, and clients.

What you can bring?

Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills, plus:

  • Honours degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Good engineering judgment and fundamental skills.
  • Experience supporting challenging projects.
  • Excellent technical report writing and review skills.
  • Motivation to meet delivery targets without compromising quality.
  • Awareness of technical limitations and team support.
  • Flexibility for site work on power plants.
  • Ability to manage small teams and work independently or in teams.
  • Commercial awareness and influencing skills (desirable).
  • Membership of IET and Chartered Engineer status (desirable).

You should demonstrate experience in some of the following areas:

  • Understanding of High Voltage electrical machines and systems.
  • Power station condition monitoring expertise.
  • Knowledge of failure mechanisms and investigations.
  • Understanding of power generation tech and HV plant.
  • Knowledge of site safety systems, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Operational plant troubleshooting experience.
  • Design and testing of electrical protection systems.
