Overview

Position: Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer

Location: Exeter or Bristol with hybrid working available

Rate Guide: £60-80k (Neg DOE) plus car allowance, bonus and excellent benefits package

About the Client

Our Client is an integrated design and build provider working in the water sector. With over 1,000 staff across eight regional centres, they support six long-term water sector frameworks and two recently won frameworks, operating both as a sole contractor and in joint ventures and alliances.

The Role

Our client is looking to strengthen their Engineering team with a Senior or Principal EICA Engineer. You will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead or Regional Engineering Lead. Your role is to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. The individual will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.

Responsibilities
  • Produce design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and can be constructed and commissioned effectively. The cost includes all costs associated with the design and construction, including design time, material, erection, and any impacts on other disciplines.
  • Ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
  • Maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
  • Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
  • Assist in developing procedures and processes; monitor and review them; write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department.
  • Coordinate designs with all other internal and external disciplines to ensure cohesive design processes for the contract.
  • Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
  • Assure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in supervising and developing staff; assist in ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Ensure designs take account of environmental issues and health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that design takes full regard of all health and safety requirements.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects.
  • Experience of motor control centres including protection, motor starters including VSDs and harmonic mitigation methods.
  • Experience of selection and specification of Instrumentation, Industrial Communications, PLCs and SCADA systems.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of water and sewage treatment.
  • Experience of managing members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.
  • Membership of a professional institution / chartered.
  • Relevant discipline engineering degree.
  • Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.
  • Good general knowledge of water treatment across mechanical, process, electrical engineering and project management.
  • A flexible mind with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data; ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.
  • Computer literacy; driving licence.
