Position Overview: Senior / Principal Ecologist
Hybrid working (remote and in-office)
Location: Scotland
Permanent, full-time or part-time
Salary: Up to £50,000 (FTE), dependent on experience

Lanpro is a leading multidisciplinary consultancy specializing in Planning, Design, and the Environment. We work on diverse projects across sectors such as residential, historic sites, renewable energy, and commercial developments.

We seek passionate ecologists to join our growing team, working closely with our Ecology Lead for the Northern Region. The role is suitable for self-motivated individuals who enjoy site surveys and working in a supportive team environment.

We welcome applicants from consultancy or non-consultancy backgrounds with relevant qualifications, including academic or vocational.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support design teams with ecology deliverables
• Lead habitat and species surveys
• Conduct desk studies, data analysis, EcIA, BNG assessments
• Prepare proposals and health & safety documents
• Assist with team operations and client liaison
• Mentor junior staff

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum four years relevant UK experience
• Driving license preferred
• CIEEM membership preferred

Skills & Attributes:

• Team player with excellent communication
• Ability to undertake site work, including overnight stays
• Organized, proactive, and safety-conscious
• Strong report writing and project management skills
• Mentoring ability and commercial awareness

Desirable:

• Protected species licenses or specialist skills (e.g., bat, GCN, ornithology)
• Experience with Habitat Regulations Assessment, GIS, bat sound analysis
