An established industry player is on the lookout for a Senior/Principal Ecological Consultant to join their dynamic team. This role offers the chance to lead a variety of ecological projects while working remotely or on-site, depending on your preference. With a focus on protected species and ecological assessments, you'll be pivotal in driving impactful environmental initiatives. The company prides itself on its supportive culture, generous leave policies, and commitment to professional development. If you're ready to take on a new challenge and make a difference in the ecology field, this opportunity is perfect for you.
The Ecology Co-op is seeking a Senior / Principal Ecological Consultant to join the team in Kent, though working remotely in East Sussex or Surrey is also possible. This role may be suitable for someone looking to step up into a more senior role, or be someone with significant experience as a senior consultant who would like a new challenge and to be part of a growing and developing business. Dependant upon experience and protected species licenses held, this candidate may expect a salary of between £30,000 and £40,000, whilst also benefiting from our generous bonus scheme.
We are looking for someone with experience of managing a variety of projects and with a good understanding of protected species technical work. The right candidate will hold more than one protected species license and will have experience of submitting European Protected Species licenses.
Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake a broad range of ecological survey work. Experience of project management, proposal preparation, working with other environmental disciplines, and liaising with clients and consultees will all be essential attributes for the successful candidate. Experience working with other protected species or as a botanist is of course desirable.
You will work closely with the team in Kent as well as collaborating with our wider team. This will be on a wide variety of projects, which are likely to include Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, mitigation and habitat creation, biodiversity net gain, a variety of protected species surveys, and European Protected Species licenses. The role will include the opportunity to work on a variety of surveys and projects requiring someone with a broad range of experience. Dependent upon your skills, experience, and interests, you will coach less experienced staff, and manage projects or tasks within multi-disciplinary projects.
Your contract will include a generous annual leave allowance and the option to use a company vehicle, or claim mileage for all of our project work at £0.45 per mile. Due to the seasonality of ecology work, we will allow you to accrue extra annual leave to use over the winter as a result of any overtime worked during the summer. Our commitment to you also includes costs for your membership with CIEEM and all of the training you require to meet your CPD requirements with them. We strive to use high-quality equipment for all of our work, making your job easier and fulfilling and we have a very sociable and friendly work atmosphere.
