Job summary

Position 1 Recruitment is working with a successful engineering consultancy to hire a Senior / Principal Drainage & Infrastructure Engineer in Peterborough. The role is full-time and permanent, with a salary of 40,000 - 65,000 PA DOE.

You will lead and mentor project teams, manage drainage strategies, flood risk assessments and highway/infrastructure designs, liaising with clients and authorities to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in drainage and infrastructure design.
• Strong experience in drainage strategies and infrastructure schemes.
• Knowledge of S38, S278, S104, S106 and S185 agreements.
• Experience with flood risk assessments and SuDS integration.
• Experience on highway and private-development infrastructure schemes.
• Chartered or working towards ICE chartership (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor project teams delivering drainage and infrastructure schemes from concept through to detailed design.
• Prepare and review drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, highway designs, levels designs, calculations, drawings and specifications.

• Prepare fee proposals and assist with project costings.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.
• Undertake occasional site inspections and provide technical support where required.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, local authorities and external consultants to coordinate projects effectively.
• Ensure project information is accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines.

About the Role

About You

• Practical experience integrating SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) into development projects.


• Experience working on highway and private-development infrastructure schemes.


• Knowledge of highway alignments, crossfalls and visibility splays to adoptable standards.


• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PDS and MicroDrainage/FLOW.


• Ideally, you will be Chartered or working towards chartership with ICE or another relevant professional institution.
