• Chartered or working towards ICE membership is advantageous.

Senior / Principal Civil Engineer - London

I'm working with a highly regarded engineering consultancy that is continuing to expand its London operation and is looking to appoint an experienced Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to join the team.

The consultancy has an excellent reputation and a strong pipeline of work across the residential, commercial, retail, education, healthcare and regeneration sectors, delivering development infrastructure solutions from planning through to detailed design and construction.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and play an important role in the continued growth of the London office.

The Role

You'll be involved in the delivery and management of a diverse portfolio of development infrastructure projects across London and the wider South East.

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and delivery of highways and drainage infrastructure for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
• Producing and reviewing detailed designs covering S38, S278, S104, SuDS, earthworks, levels and associated infrastructure.
• Using Civil 3D alongside InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow or similar software.
• Taking technical ownership of projects from planning and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
• Liaising directly with clients, architects, planners, contractors and local authorities.
• Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Preparing technical reports, specifications and engineering submissions.
• Reviewing technical work and providing guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Supporting project management, fee proposals and the development of client relationships.
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of the London team.

At Principal level, there will be scope to take on greater responsibility for technical leadership, client management, project delivery and team development.

What We're Looking For

• Strong UK consultancy experience delivering development infrastructure projects.
• Significant experience in highways and drainage design, ideally across residential, commercial or mixed-use developments.
• Strong understanding of S38, S278, S104, SuDS, earthworks and UK design standards.
• Experience using Civil 3D and industry-standard drainage design software.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or working towards ICE membership, ideally.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• The ability to take ownership of projects and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• At Principal level, experience managing projects, developing client relationships and/or contributing to business development would be advantageous.
