Job description

Mills & Reeve are hiring an experienced Corporate Solicitor to join the team in Birmingham, following a busy period of growth, where you will be part of the growing national Corporate group.

The role

We're looking for an experienced and ambitious Corporate Solicitor to join our Birmingham team as a Senior or Principal Associate.

You'll become part of a 15-strong Birmingham corporate team, within a national practice of around 100 corporate specialists. You'll advise an exciting mix of clients, from innovative start-ups and university spinouts to established businesses, management teams and institutions, often on matters with an international dimension.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on high-quality, varied work while playing an important role in the continued growth of our Birmingham practice.

The person

You'll be a qualified Corporate Solicitor with at least 7 years' PQE, gained within an international, national or well-regarded regional firm.

You'll bring strong transactional corporate experience, particularly in M&A, and be confident managing transactions as the day-to-day lead with appropriate Partner support. Experience of private equity structures and transactions would be beneficial but isn't essential.

Most importantly, you'll be commercially minded, collaborative and keen to make an impact. You'll enjoy developing junior colleagues, building client relationships and contributing to the future growth of the team, with genuine scope to progress your own career along the way.

The activities

You'll work across a broad range of corporate matters, including:

  • M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions
  • Corporate finance and fundraising
  • Shareholder agreements and joint ventures
  • General corporate advisory work
  • Drafting key transaction documents and managing deals day to day
  • Supervising, delegating to and developing junior lawyers
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Birmingham and our other offices
  • Building your network and contributing to business development and the growth of the practice.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.

The benefits

As you'd expect, we offer a competitive salary and a wide range of benefits.

If we offer you a role, we will conduct comprehensive pre-employment screening. This screening will include, but is not limited to, a basic DBS, verification of your right to work, a three year employment history and a self-declaration to assess your character and suitability for the role. Full details of our pre-screening employment process are available upon request.
