We are expanding our portfolio in the energy and industrial sectors and seek an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team. The role involves leading the structural design of buildings within energy and industrial projects, supporting team development, ensuring structural integrity, and optimizing designs.

The position is primarily office-based with hybrid working options, located in one of our offices in Manchester, London, Leeds, Chester, Southampton, or Bristol. Occasional travel to project sites and clients is required.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
  2. Following project delivery models such as FEED/FEL, DED, OE stages.
  3. Designing and analyzing structural systems for energy and industrial facilities, including manufacturing buildings, substations, power stations, and infrastructure.
  4. Conducting structural analysis and detailed design to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with standards.
  5. Developing engineering solutions to enhance performance and optimize costs.
  6. Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  7. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers.
  8. Preparing technical reports, documentation, and proposals.
  9. Mentoring and upskilling junior engineers.
  10. Staying updated with industry trends and technologies.
  11. Supporting business development and tender activities.

Qualifications & experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE.
  • At least 7 years (senior/principal) or 10 years (associate) of industry experience in structural engineering, specifically in energy and industrial projects including sub-station design buildings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations relevant to energy and industrial sectors.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, TSD, Robot, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Technical expertise in structural engineering concepts.
  • Data analysis and structural modeling proficiency.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and energy-efficient design practices.

  • Experience in resource and cost estimation for structural design.
