Job summary

Medical Protection Society in Leeds offers a Senior Pricing and Data Science Analyst role (UK&I) with hybrid working. The role leads complex pricing, analytics, and system-driven initiatives across the UK & Ireland, delivering end-to-end solutions with autonomy and technical leadership.

The candidate will influence governance forums, mentor junior analysts, and partner with underwriting and commercial teams to implement data-driven pricing strategies.

Qualifications

  • Strong numerical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, analytics, and data science principles in a commercial environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills (modelling, pivots, VBA) and strong SQL capability with large datasets.
  • Experience developing pricing systems, emulators, or analytical tools.
  • Experience with statistical/predictive modelling techniques (e.g. regression, GLMs).
  • Good governance, model risk, and change control within a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and present at governance forums.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance pricing models, emulators, and analytical tools to deliver outputs.
  • Lead system-driven pricing initiatives and productionise models safely.
  • Deliver insights and pricing recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Own renewal performance monitoring and KPI analysis.
  • Build pricing insight tools for operational teams and delegated authorities.
  • Analyze pricing variance and guide discount strategy with underwriting.
  • Design tools/frameworks to support pricing decisions for high-value/high-risk segments.
  • Apply elasticity modelling to inform pricing strategy and planning.
  • Partner with underwriting and commercial teams to enable data-driven decisions.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior analysts.

Job description

Senior Pricing and Data Science Analyst (UK&I)

Location: Leeds (Hybrid – 2 days per week on site)

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full Time

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 (DOE)

The Senior Pricing and Data Science Analyst will lead the delivery of complex, system-driven pricing and analytical solutions across our UK & Ireland portfolio. This role combines advanced modelling, pricing expertise, and oversight of pricing systems to shape strategy, strengthen governance, and enhance analytical capability. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll own end-to-end initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and provide technical leadership and mentorship across the function.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance pricing models, emulators, and analytical tools to deliver accurate, robust, and explainable outputs.
  • Lead system-driven pricing initiatives, working cross-functionally to productionise models and implement changes safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver clear, impactful insights and pricing recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Own renewal performance monitoring, providing detailed analysis against key KPIs and supporting performance tracking.
  • Build and maintain pricing insight tools to support operational teams and inform delegated authorities.
  • Analyse pricing variance and collaborate with underwriting to guide discount strategy and governance.
  • Design tools and frameworks to support pricing decisions for high-value and high-risk segments.
  • Apply advanced analytics, including elasticity modelling, to inform pricing strategy and planning.
  • Partner with underwriting and commercial teams throughout planning cycles to enable data-driven decisions.
  • Provide technical mentorship and support to junior analysts, contributing to overall team capability.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong numerical degree (or equivalent experience) with significant experience in pricing, data science, analytics, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of pricing, analytics, and data science principles, with proven application in a commercial environment
  • Advanced Excel skills (modelling, pivots, VBA) and strong SQL capability, with experience working with large, complex datasets
  • Experience developing pricing systems, emulators, or analytical tools
  • Experience with statistical and predictive modelling techniques (e.g. regression, GLMs), or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas
  • Good understanding of governance, model risk, and change control within a regulated environment
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and present effectively at governance forums
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
