Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Trusted Partner: Collaborate with UKI Fire and Tech Lines underwriters to assess portfolio performance, optimize risk selection, and develop strategies to enhance underwriting results and grow the book.
  • Drive Portfolio Excellence: Lead portfolio reviews, planning, and forecasting to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Develop Advanced Tools: Build and calibrate exposure and experience rating engines to support benchmark rating and case pricing. Ensure tools are tailored to meet the needs of underwriters and stakeholders.
  • Deliver Insights: Monitor and communicate key portfolio trends, including renewal rate changes, new business adequacy, inflation impacts, and more, through dashboards and reports.
  • Support Risk Management: Lead the parameterization of underwriting risk for UKI Property and contribute to reinsurance submissions and allocations.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Engage with reserving, catastrophe modeling, and other actuarial teams to share knowledge and drive common projects.
  • Mentor Junior Talent: Provide guidance and indirect management to junior staff within the Short Tail lines pricing team.
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Actuarial Expertise: Professional actuarial qualification (or close to qualifying) with experience in case pricing and portfolio management.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong loss cost modeling and statistical analysis capabilities.
  • Commercial Acumen: Knowledge of commercial insurance and catastrophe risk.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with tools like Dataiku, Qlik, VBA, R, Radar, ResQ, and Python (a plus).
  • Self-Starter Attitude: Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to drive projects independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
