There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top-up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum. This will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Practitioner Psychologist (Counselling or Clinical) to join the Adult Mental Health Specialty in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the continued development and provision of specialist psychological services to adults living in Lower Monmouthshire.
The post is advertised as Band 8a, but we also invite newly qualified applicants with significant past experience to apply and start on Band 7. Candidates who do not quite meet the threshold for Band 8a may be offered the role on Annex 21 with a clear development plan to progress to Band 8a.
The post-holder will be part of a robust psychology team embedded in a CMHT and the wider 'family' of the adult psychology specialty. Flexibility, creativity, and a keen willingness to learn are essential. Maintaining good working relationships across disciplines is crucial. This role offers the chance to focus on an area of clinical expertise or a special interest while developing broader relationships and partnerships to support service development and evaluation.
Main duties of the job
We seek a thoughtful and dynamic psychologist capable of delivering high-quality assessments, formulations, and interventions, and helping others do the same.
The successful candidates will join a busy, welcoming CMHT and a cohesive Psychology specialty committed to personal and professional development. We have interests and highly specialist skills in psychological therapies including CAT, DBT, MBT, EMDR, and MBCT, and welcome applicants eager to further develop their clinical expertise and achieve accreditation in evidence-based models.
The Lower Monmouthshire psychology team has particular interests in EDMR, DBT, CBT, and other evidence-based therapies. The team is trauma-informed and works to deliver psychologically informed care alongside evidence-based interventions. There is a particular interest in facilitating team formulation and leading clinical service elements, providing an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
