Job summary

Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner for maternity cover. You will lead on assessments, support service development, and help staff develop skills in assessing parenting capacity, while coordinating auditing and practice improvement with senior managers.

The role is non-case holding and includes extensive training opportunities, regular supervision, and cross-team collaboration. The council provides relocation payments and a supportive leadership team.

Qualifications

• A relevant social work qualification.
• Significant social work experience.
• Experience of pre-proceedings and court proceedings.
• Knowledge of the legislative framework governing children’s services.
• IT skills to operate standard electronic systems.
• Passion and motivation to support vulnerable families.

Responsibilities

• Lead on assessments service-wide and support other service development.
• Non-case holding role focusing on developing staff in assessing parenting capacity.
• Plan auditing and practice improvement with Team Managers and SMT.
