Job summary

Nottingham City Council is recruiting a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to lead the OT service, promoting independence and positive outcomes. You will supervise staff, manage complex caseloads and work with partners across health, housing and social care to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

Hybrid working options are available, with strong emphasis on safeguarding, Care Act and MCA compliance. A DBS enhanced check is required for this post.

Qualifications

  • A qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.
  • Post-qualification experience in Adult Social Care, community services or related setting is desirable.
  • Knowledgeable in complex manual handling, equipment provision, adaptations and moving and handling risk assessment.
  • Experience as a supervisor/mentor developing others.
  • Strong communication and partnership-working skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional leadership, advice and support to Occupational Therapists, Assistants and learners.
  • Supervise, mentor and develop staff and students; support quality assurance and service improvement.
  • Manage a complex caseload and contribute to delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.

Working Hours: 37 and 18.5 hours per week

Salary: Starting Salary is £47,665 (Level one) rising to £50,908 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Lead, Inspire and Make a Difference

We are seeking a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy Service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about enabling people to maximise their independence, improve their quality of life and achieve positive outcomes within their communities.

As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key leadership role within the team, providing professional support, supervision and guidance to Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and learners. You will manage a complex caseload, support service development and contribute to the ongoing delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.

About the Role

As Senior Practitioner, you will provide professional leadership, advice and support to colleagues across the service. You will supervise, mentor and develop Occupational Therapy staff and students, supporting quality assurance, service improvement and the implementation of best practice. Working alongside the Principal Occupational Therapist, Team Manager Occupational Therapy and key partners across health, housing and social care, you will help deliver Nottingham's vision of Enabling Gloriously Ordinary Lives.

About You
Essential

You will be:

  • A qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.
  • An experienced practitioner with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably within Adult Social Care, community services or a related setting.
  • Knowledgeable in complex manual handling, equipment provision, adaptations and moving and handling risk assessment.
  • An effective supervisor and mentor who is committed to developing others.
  • A confident decision-maker with excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
  • Passionate about promoting independence, safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for residents.
  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding.
  • A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
