Qualifications

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To demonstrate the application of specialist skills and knowledge in order to maintain professional competence and fitness to practice at Senior Practitioner level

To demonstrate professional and practice expertise via interventions, supervision and modelling good practice.

To undertake and record comprehensive risk assessment, devise and implement risk assessment plans for service users at risk of vulnerability, self harm, self neglect, or risk of physical, sexual, emotional harm to others, using the STAR risk assessment Tool.

To provide direct evidence based therapeutic interventions as appropriate based on the recovery model and personalisation agenda.

To take responsibility for managing a ring fenced caseload of service users, with complex mental health needs.

Take a lead role in the supervision of staff with a focus on supporting complex case management

To ensure practice remains current and up to date in the area of older adult mental health

To oversee and participate in Initial Assessments.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Relevant professional qualification: RMN, OT, Social Worker, Psychologist.
  • Evidence of relevant education to at least degree level or evidence of appropriate professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of appropriate training/ qualification in psychosocial interventions in psychosis

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Appropriate demonstrable experience of working in Child & Adolescent or Adult Mental Health at a senior clinical level
  • Experience of supervising others.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working with psychosis.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of best practice relevant to the work of an Early Intervention Service
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. CPA, MHA

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • A commitment to early intervention in psychosis
  • Experience of managing clinical performance
  • Experience of delivering care against key performance indicators and NICE concordant standards.
  • Ability to apply clinical management experience to the development of service delivery in collaboration with clients, carers and other agencies
