Job Purpose

The core components of the Senior Social Work Practitioner role include:

  1. Carrying a complex caseload within a service area
  2. Undertaking approved social work duties, leading joint investigations of child abuse and vulnerable adults as appropriate
  3. Acting as a resource for staff and management to provide expert advice on cases
  4. Chairing strategy and other case meetings
Responsibilities
  • Undertaking line management responsibilities for staff
  • Supervising the work of social care staff
  • Allocating cases
  • Identifying staff training and development needs
  • Leading or assisting in practice development and projects
  • Handling complaints
  • Contributing to policy and procedure development
  • Supporting performance management
  • Ensuring high standards of data collection and record keeping
  • Implementing statutory duties and policies
  • Maintaining Continuing Professional Development as per Care Council for Wales requirements
  • Sharing core skills and knowledge across specialisms
  • Planning and working within financial resources allocated to social care services
  • Carrying out health and safety responsibilities
  • Performing other duties as reasonably required by the Service Director
