Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner for Children in Care to join the Basildon team. This permanent, full-time role provides leadership in the social care team, mentoring newly qualified staff, and overseeing the duty service to ensure high-quality practice.

The role requires a recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You will work across Essex, with opportunities for professional development and a competitive salary package

Qualifications

Recognised social work qualification (Diploma, degree or masters) with current Social Work England registration.
Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to frameworks or KS statements.
Experience across social work with up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership within the team and mentoring to less experienced staff.
Facilitate reflective group supervision and oversee the team’s duty service.
Deputise for the Team Manager when needed and lead in a practice area.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with professionals and communities to support children and families.
Be mobile across a wider area, travelling around Essex as required and maintain DBS if needed.
