Job summary

Caritas Recruitment is seeking a Senior Practitioner to lead the Child Protection Inquiry Team in Birmingham. The role focuses on assessing and managing cases to safeguard children, while guiding a team of social workers and coordinating with partners to develop effective interventions.

Qualifications

• Recognised social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Extensive experience in child protection and safeguarding.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
• Develop and implement intervention plans in collaboration with multi‑agency partners.
• Provide supervision, guidance and support to junior staff and students.
• Maintain accurate case records and reports in line with local authority policies.
• Participate in child protection conferences and court proceedings as required.
