Job description

You will be part of an integrated team supporting individuals who do not benefit from mainstream substance use services.

You will work 36 hours per week with flexible working arrangements in line with Fife Council policies.

Your base will be at Whyteman’s Brae, but travel throughout Fife is required to meet service needs.

You will provide professional supervision to Newly Qualified Social Workers (up to three years post-qualifying) and Social Work Assistants, supporting their development and ensuring adherence to Council policies and procedures. You will mentor new social workers during their induction, especially those beyond three years post-qualifying. Attendance and active participation in staff meetings, service development sessions, reflective practice, and peer supervision are expected.

You will manage a small but complex caseload, offer practice advice to the team, and undertake delegated tasks to support the team manager.

  • Qualified social worker with at least 2 years post-qualifying experience and eligible for SSSC registration
  • Holds a postgraduate qualification or equivalent post-qualifying experience
  • Capable of travelling throughout Fife to meet service needs

Pre-employment requirements:

  • Obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before confirmation of appointment
  • Apply for SSSC registration within three months of appointment; registration should be completed within six months
  • If necessary, complete any required qualification to maintain SSSC membership within the specified timeframe
