Job summary

HCA UK is seeking a Practice Development Midwife for The Portland Hospital in London. You will lead teaching, assessment and practice-based development within the Maternity Services to enhance patient care and clinical performance.

You will collaborate with senior nursing and medical leads to deliver competencies, update training, and drive Governance-aligned education while supporting staff across obstetric care.

Qualifications

• NMC Registered midwife and current practicing registration.
• Post-registration education evidence.
• Up-to-date Obstetric Emergency Training.
• Mentorship qualification with Sign-Off Mentor status.
• Cannulation, venepuncture and perineal suturing competence.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development, coordination and management of in-service education for midwives and staff.
• Produce a training needs analysis for Maternity Services.
• Coordinate mandatory training on medical devices and maternity training days.
• Facilitate midwives to develop clinical skills including cannulation and suturing.
• Organise and lead in situ skills drills and simulation training.
• Ensure training programmes reflect local/national incidents and recommended requirements.
