Vedder Price's London office is looking for a Senior Practice Development Manager. The Senior Practice Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategy to enhance the Firm’s brand presence and expand the existing client base in the London market. As needed, the Senior Practice Development Manager will support strategic growth of our Singapore office/international presence. The Senior Practice Development Manager will oversee all London office marketing needs, supervising the London Practice Development Manager. This role will collaborate with the larger marketing and practice development team to coordinate these efforts with Firm-wide practice area priorities. The ideal candidate will have a consistent pulse on present and emerging trends in specific client industries and be well-versed in creating and implementing multi-faceted strategies to raise the profiles of the practices and attorneys. This role requires a general understanding of the UK legal market and industries to assist in raising the London office brand.

As the Senior Practice Development Manager, your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing and business development plans, including thought leadership, event strategy, and client education opportunities, to enhance the Firm's reputation and attract new clients
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including clients, industry associations, and other professional services firms
  • Collaborate with London Partners to identify and pursue high-value business opportunities
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform the Firm's strategic planning and decision-making processes
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Firm's Partners on matters related to public relations, marketing, and business development
  • Collaborate with media relations team to identify trending topics and opportunities for attorney profile raising
  • Work with the London based Practice Development Manager on the digital distribution of newsletters and social media posts and other marketing content for each practice group
  • Partner with the events team and London based Practice Development Manager to ensure that events, webinars, and seminars are effectively promoting the Firm's services and expertise
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and trends within the legal industry
  • Collaborate with Partners and practice groups to develop targeted marketing campaigns and client pitches
  • Represent the Firm at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build and maintain professional relationships
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and business development initiatives, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement
  • Lead and mentor London Practice Development Manager, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal relations, written and oral communication skills required
  • Able to think broadly and independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative
  • Strong client service attitude required
  • Needs to work well under pressure and be an excellent problem-solver and team player with strong collaboration skills, but able to act autonomously
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail is necessary
  • Strong project management skills

Qualifications & Required Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in marketing required
  • Minimum 10 – 15 years’ experience in a marketing/business development function within professional services required; law firm experience preferred

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CRM Systems, Adobe InDesign
