Job summary

Swipe Right Recruitment is helping a well-established, family-owned accountancy practice based in Rugby appoint a Senior Practice Accountant. You will manage your own portfolio of clients across sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, delivering accounts, tax and compliance under UK standards.

This permanent, full-time role offers a competitive £45,000-£60,000 salary with DOE, Monday to Friday office-based work, and opportunities for professional development within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent with substantial practice experience.
• Experience managing your own client portfolio within an accountancy practice.
• Proficient in cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
• Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment tax returns.
• Complete and review VAT returns.
• Produce management accounts.
• Provide accounting, taxation and business advice to clients.
• Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.
• Support clients with bookkeeping and cloud accounting software.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Practice Accountant to join their experienced and supportive team.

The Role

Working Monday to Friday from the Rugby office, you'll manage your own portfolio of clients, supporting sole traders, partnerships and limited companies with a wide range of accounting and taxation services.

You'll become a trusted adviser to local businesses, providing practical financial guidance while ensuring clients remain compliant with current legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
• Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Preparing Corporation Tax and Self-Assessment tax returns.
• Completing and reviewing VAT returns.
• Producing management accounts.
• Providing accounting, taxation and business advice to clients.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience with substantial accountancy practice experience.
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
• Experience managing your own portfolio of clients.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, Corporation Tax, Self Assessment and VAT.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, organised and client-focused approach.
• High attention to detail and excellent time management.
• Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
