What's the role


The Senior Power Trader plays a key role in the EU Power and Certs Trading Desk, focusing on the CWE markets.


The EU Power Trading team, part of Shell Energy Europe & Africa's (SE-EA) European Power Trading team, manages proprietary trading and a growing portfolio that includes customer demand, renewable energy, batteries, and thermal generation. The team handles exposures from trading strategies through to delivery.


What you'll be doing


Main responsibilities include:

  • Constructing trading strategies, taking positions, and managing exposures based on fundamental, weather, and technical market analysis across multiple markets.
  • Identifying distortions between geographies, tenors, and generation types, and understanding the risks involved.
  • Supporting the development of the desk's capabilities, portfolio, and fundamental models.
  • Collaborating with external and internal customers and business development teams to introduce new structures or deal types to optimize exposures.
  • Staying informed about regulatory and market developments.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines and within authorized mandates.
  • Coaching and educating junior colleagues.
