Job summary

RED ENGINEERING DESIGN LIMITED seeks a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead the design and optimization of data centre power systems from our UK offices in London, Bicester or Newcastle.

You will run load flow and short circuit analyses, coordinate protections, and perform arc flash and harmonic studies to ensure safe, reliable operation of LV/MV networks up to 132 kV. ETAP proficiency is preferred, with DigSilent or SKM also considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Power Engineering.
• Proven experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the data centre industry.
• Proficiency in simulation software, particularly ETAP (preferred), DigSilent or SKM.
• Experience with Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonic Studies, and Underground Cable Sizing.
• Experience in performing Transient Stability Studies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Run computer simulations to design and optimize power distribution for data centre facilities.
• Support design teams and ensure reliability and efficiency of power systems.
• Validate input data and prepare comprehensive reports on simulation results and design considerations.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for power system simulations and design support.
