Summary of Role:

Join the Nidec Drives R&D Department as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer. You will report to the Product Development Manager and be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing power electronics and auxiliary circuits, including component evaluation, circuit analysis, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review with manufacturing considerations.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Have a solid understanding of power electronics.
• Create new designs, product specifications, critical power components, and develop analogue, digital, and electronic circuits/systems.
• Ensure designs meet functional requirements and comply with EMC and Safety regulations.
• Interface with external suppliers and participate in product design reviews, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers.
• Manage and facilitate type test meetings and develop test equipment.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports, including presenting and justifying design concepts.
• Participate in technical design reviews, critique, and support team members' designs.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Masters Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
• Proven engineering experience.
• Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
• Experience with simulation tools like PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, or MATLAB Simulink.
• Interest in emerging technologies and innovation.
• Knowledge of planning tools and application of planning theories.
• Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
