Summary of Role:

An exciting opportunity to join Nidec Drives R&D as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer.

The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will report to the Product Development Manager, focusing on designing, developing, and implementing power electronics and auxiliary circuits.

This includes component evaluation, circuit analysis and simulations, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review with manufacturing considerations.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Possess a solid understanding of power electronics.
• Contribute to new designs, product specifications, and development of analogue, digital, and electronic circuits/systems for power electronics.
• Implement designs that meet functional requirements and comply with EMC and Safety standards.
• Interface with external suppliers and participate in product design reviews, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers.
• Manage type test meetings and develop test equipment.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and present design concepts.
• Participate in technical reviews, critique, and challenge designs.
• Guide and support other Development Engineers.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Masters Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
• Proven engineering experience.
• Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, MATLAB Simulink).
• Interest in emerging technologies and innovation.
• Knowledge of planning tools and theories.
• Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
