Job summary

Scrumconnect Ltd. is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Specialist to investigate data incidents on a UK public sector programme. You will work with security, delivery, and engineering teams to identify root causes, preserve evidence, and recommend changes to prevent recurrence.

At SFIA Level 5 you will work independently, advise at senior levels, and set the standard for logs, audits and recovery strategies across the system.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on PostgreSQL experience in production databases.
• Experience with AWS managed databases (RDS/Aurora).
• Strong SQL and performance tuning skills.
• Experience diagnosing live production incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Linux and Bash scripting skills are required.
• Ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Investigate data incidents and determine root causes.
• Reconstruct events using logs, PITR, and replication streams.
• Preserve evidence for security reviews and audits.
• Advise on audit logging designs (pgaudit, logging).
• Support live incident response and production performance tuning.
• Review DR, backup, replication, and archiving setups.
• Assist migrations and upgrades with near-zero downtime.
• Write clear investigation reports for stakeholders.
• Advise developers on SQL, indexing, and schema design.
