Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting, a UK-based digital transformation firm, seeks a senior PostgreSQL consultant to investigate and reconstruct issues in business-critical databases on a UK public sector programme. You will work with security, delivery and engineering teams to identify root causes, preserve evidence and recommend preventative measures.

At SFIA Level 5 you will work independently, advise at senior level, and set standards for logs, audits and data recovery across the programme.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience as a senior DBA with PostgreSQL expertise.
• Strong SQL and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with AWS managed databases (RDS/Aurora).
• Good understanding of database security, auditing and logging.

Responsibilities

• Investigate data incidents and establish root cause.
• Reconstruct events using logs, PITR and audit trails.
• Preserve and document evidence for security/compliance reviews.
• Advise on audit/logging design to enable future traceability.
• Support live incident response, including performance tuning of production databases.
• Review backup, DR, replication and archiving arrangements.
• Assist with migrations and upgrades, including near-zero-downtime approaches.
• Produce clear investigation reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advise developers on SQL, indexing and schema design.
