Job summary

Synechron is seeking a hands-on PostgreSQL DBA to ensure availability, performance, security and resilience of enterprise-scale database platforms. The role involves automation, on-call support, and collaboration with application, cloud, infrastructure and security teams.

You will administer PostgreSQL, design high-availability solutions, manage backups and perform migrations in a 24/7 production environment, using scripting and DevOps practices to optimise operations.

Qualifications

• Proven PostgreSQL DBA experience managing enterprise-scale databases.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, failover, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with backup, restore, WAL, vacuuming and routine maintenance.
• Advanced SQL, query optimisation and performance-tuning skills.
• Good Linux/Unix administration and shell-scripting experience.
• Experience with Python, Bash, Ansible or similar automation technologies.
• Experience supporting critical databases in a 24/7 production environment.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident management and change control.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, upgrade and patch PostgreSQL databases.
