An experienced Senior Postdoctoral Scientist to work with Professor Benoit Van den Eynde on a research programme developing new cancer vaccines based on a recombinant virus platform and combination therapies for effective cancer treatment. This role is based at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be in charge of the day-to-day operational management of the research group. You will be responsible for overseeing the work of the lab and supervising the work of junior postdocs and students. You will take part in the Ludwig funded research programme led by Prof Benoit Van den Eynde, to understand the interplay between tumours and the immune system and to develop next-generation cancer vaccines. The research involves a wide range of classical molecular and cellular techniques related to cellular immunology, including T-cell assays.
Additionally, you will develop research questions, conduct individual research, and be responsible for overseeing the laboratory area and general laboratory management.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a PhD/DPhil in Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related subject, together with experience in tumour immunology. You should have experience with immunology, standard recombinant DNA techniques, and in vivo handling. A strong publication record, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams are essential. A background in cancer research is desirable.
