ABL Group is a leading global independent energy and marine consultant working in energy and oceans to de-risk and drive the energy transition across renewables, maritime, and oil and gas sectors, offering extensive expertise in marine and engineering disciplines across more than 300 locations worldwide.

As a core member of our Ports and Harbours team, you will partner with clients to provide consultancy services including marine risk studies, vessel manoeuvring, port operations, and marine governance. Application Deadline: August 30, 2024. Department: Maritime. Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time. Location: United Kingdom, London. Workplace type: Hybrid. Reporting To: Paul Martin.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide marine consultancy services to clients.
  • Undertake fee-earning assignments and maintain own billable utilization above 70%.
  • Assist with business development and marketing activities.
  • Generate leads and prepare proposals for Ports and Harbours consultancy.
  • Represent the Company in the ports and harbours market and to legal/insurance sectors.
  • Support other business areas as appropriate, including damage surveys, P&I condition surveys, expert witness activities, etc.
  • Familiarize with all ABL services and key deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on experience.
  • Engage in public speaking and author technical articles occasionally.

This position will be based in the UK, and the candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK. Regular travel, both domestic and international, will be required.

What we are looking for:

  • Unlimited Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or experience as a Captain.
  • At least 10 years of maritime experience.
  • Good knowledge of port operations and management procedures.
  • At least 5 years in a similar role (e.g., Harbour Master or Pilot).
  • Experience in marine consultancy is advantageous.
