YLD is a remote-first consultancy specialising in software engineering, product design, and data, with teams across London, Lisbon, and Porto. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable, fault-tolerant architectures and deliver outstanding products in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and monitor highly available systems, mentor peers, and drive improvements across the engineering function.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern frameworks across the stack including FastAPI, Gin and Express.
• Production experience with React, modern build tools, state management and accessibility.
• Comprehensive testing—unit, integration, E2E, security—and performance optimization.
• Scalable system design patterns, load balancing and high-availability architectures.
• Database design and optimization for relational and NoSQL databases.
• API development REST/GraphQL/gRPC and event-driven architectures.
• Caching strategies and message queues (Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with Docker/Kubernetes; CI/CD and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Monitoring and observability; debugging production issues calmly.

Responsibilities

• Delivering changes continually as teams move to CI/CD.
• Collaborating closely with the team on engineering initiatives.
• Mentoring the engineering team to accelerate career growth.
• Architecting, designing, and delivering highly available, zero-downtime products.
• Overseeing production operations and monitoring per SLAs.
• Promoting best practices and driving impact across the department.
• Show and tell sessions to share work with the department and wider company.
