Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking an Associate Policy and Procedures Lead to shape the commercial policy framework for its large procurement function. You will translate legislation into practical policies, support governance, and guide colleagues across the Council on best practice.

The role focuses on developing guidance, embedding consistent procurement practices, and monitoring compliance, with a strong emphasis on professional development and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures or governance frameworks within a complex organisation.
• Excellent written communication, producing concise policies and guidance.
• Ability to translate complex legislation into practical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, review and continuous improvement of commercial and procurement policies, procedures and guidance.
• Translate requirements, including Procurement Act 2023, into accessible policies and resources.
• Provide expert advice on commercial policy, governance and procedural best practice.
