The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is leading within Government on the response to the Grenfell Tower fire. This is a key role that will deliver Ministerial priorities in an area where there is high ambition. We want to take this opportunity to go beyond simplifying regulatory institutions and to establish transformational change in the way that the built environment is regulated. The SCR will underpin culture change across the construction sector, supporting the Government’s housebuilding priorities and ensuring that residents are safe in their homes.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in policy development who is comfortable working closely with industry and other stakeholders. We are looking for someone to bring their experience to a high- profile area which will make a tangible difference for the communities that we serve.

As the Senior Policy Lead your responsibilities will include:
Precise responsibilities will be discussed with the successful candidate but they could include developing the powers/duties and legislative underpinning of the new regulator, how the regulator works with industry and consumers and the organisational design of the regulator.
The Institutional Reform Team is a supportive environment, and the successful candidate should provide visible leadership to the team.
