PHSO is an independent national ombudsman service. We make final decisions on complaints that have not been resolved by the NHS in England, UK government departments and some other public organisations. We do this fairly and without taking sides. Our service is free.
We're looking for an effective and diligent Senior Policy and Public Affairs manager to lead PHSO’s policy and public affairs team. This is an opportunity for someone with significant experience of developing public policy and influencing stakeholders to help drive improvement in public services to step into a leadership role and manage a whole team and function. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the team’s work projects and core business activities are effectively planned, prioritized, and resourced in line with business needs.
The Policy and Public Affairs team is responsible for PHSO’s policy, stakeholder engagement, and parliamentary accountability work. In this newly created role, the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager will be working directly with the Assistant Director of Policy, Strategy and Public Affairs. You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Policy and Public Affairs team, managing the team’s work programme, motivating the team, and ensuring the team consistently delivers on time and to the standard required.
They will also work across PHSO to ensure effective collaboration between the Policy and Public Affairs Team and other key teams such as Communications, Executive Office, Business Intelligence, and Operations.
