Job summary

Coventry University Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Estates team. You will carry out reactive repairs, preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and installation works across the campus estate, ensuring mechanical systems remain safe, reliable and compliant.

You will liaise with contractors, support apprentices, and travel to regional campuses, including overnight stays. A strong background in heating, ventilation and water systems is essential, with City & Guilds

Qualifications

• Relevant City & Guilds qualifications in plumbing, heating, or ventilation.
• Significant practical experience working on heating, ventilation, cold water, hot water, and pressure systems.
• Understanding of current legislation and health and safety requirements.
• ACS qualifications are highly desirable.
• Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• Able to liaise with suppliers and contractors when technical advice is required.
• Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues.
• Knowledge of BMS, AC or gas systems.
• Willingness to travel to regional campuses and occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Relevant City & Guilds qualifications in plumbing, heating, or ventilation.Significant practical experience working on heating, ventilation, cold water, hot water, and pressure systems.Understanding of current legislation, health and safety requirements, and industry best practice.Relevant ACS qualifications (highly desirable).Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.Ability to interpret mechanical drawings.Confidence to liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, and stakeholders when technical advice is required.Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues (advantageous).Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), air conditioning systems, or gas systems.Proactive and practical problem solver with excellent communication skills.Capable of working independently and as part of a wider team.Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.Flexibility to meet operational demands.Willingness and ability to travel to regional campuses including Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London, and Dagenham as required.Occasional overnight stays may be necessary.

• Competitive starting salary range from £32,015 up to £39,246 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.
