Job summary

IG is seeking a Senior Platform SRE to own the reliability platform across IG’s hybrid AWS and on‑premises estate. You will collaborate with Platform Engineering, product teams, and Reliability Champions to define what good looks like in production and raise the bar for reliability.

You’ll mentor engineers, run on‑call and post‑incident reviews, and help advance production readiness. We expect hands-on software engineering in Java/Python, strong observability experience, and a passion for

Qualifications

• Hands-on OpenTelemetry experience with spans, metrics, traces, and context propagation.
• Proven ability to design customer-focused SLIs and set multi-window burn-rate alerts.
• Experience with blue/green and canary releases, automated rollback, and DORA metrics integration.
• Terraform or similar IaC tooling for cloud infrastructure management.
• Production coding in Java and/or Python; contributing to application codebases for reliability.
• Strong understanding of high-throughput distributed systems and failure modes.
• On-call production incident experience with blameless PIR facilitation.
• Experience with chaos testing tools such as AWS FIS or Gremlin.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the reliability platform and tooling across IG’s hybrid estate.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability using OpenTelemetry and tracing; maintain SLOs and error budgets.
• Ensure 24/7 operational readiness with automated deployments and zero-downtime patching.
• Engineer self-healing capabilities including auto-remediation and canary rollbacks.
• Design and run chaos experiments to convert failures into improvements.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines embedding reliability practices across teams.
• Contribute to the SRE AI agent and incident investigation tooling.
• Mentor junior SREs and Reliability Champions on best practices.
