Job description

The Senior Platform Engineer is a key builder of the central platform that all software engineering teams consume to accelerate delivery and reduce friction. They design, implement, and maintain the platform’s components — CI/CD templates, AI agent configurations, golden path tooling, reference patterns — and ship them as products: discoverable, self-service, instrumented for adoption, and tuned to the real workflows of the engineers using them

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:-

  • Strong software and platform engineering skills with production experience building developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code (or equivalent agentic CLI tooling — Cursor, Codex CLI, Cline, Aider): writing custom skills, building subagent systems, implementing MCP servers, and authoring AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md context files
  • Platform-as-a-product mindset: builds reusable assets with their consumers in mind, prioritises discoverability and self-service, and validates designs against real adoption rather than assumed need
  • Deep hands-on experience with GitLab CI; transferable expertise from GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps also welcome — not just using these, but building reusable components and templates for others
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS)
  • Understanding of AI-native SDLC practices and how to encode them into platform tooling (automated quality gates, agent-triggered workflows, prompt-aware build steps)
  • Experience building and publishing reusable packages, templates, or internal libraries — with proper versioning, documentation, and consumption patterns
  • Strong understanding of security-first engineering: encoding SAST/DAST integration, secret management, and policy-as-code into central platform assets
  • Ability to work autonomously on complex technical problems while collaborating closely with the team on shared standards
  • Experience with project scaffolding and template engines (Backstage software templates, Cookiecutter, Yeoman, Hygen, Copier) and chart/module systems (Helm, Terraform modules)
  • Background in developer experience research — understanding how engineers consume platform tooling and designing for adoption
  • Experience with observability and monitoring (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Datadog) — particularly instrumenting developer workflows
  • Experience in financial services or similarly regulated environments
Job responsibilities
  • Design and build reusable CI/CD templates, pipeline components, and infrastructure patterns that form the core of the central platform’s offering
  • Develop Claude Code (or equivalent agentic CLI tooling) skills, subagents, and MCP servers that become the standard AI tooling distributed to all client teams
  • Implement golden path templates — project scaffolding, pipeline configuration, security guardrails, AI-native workflow defaults, etc.
  • Maintain and evolve how platform assets reach engineering teams: versioning, distribution across the appropriate channels (version-controlled component repos, package registries, deployed agent services), compatibility testing, and documentation
  • Co-develop shared infrastructure components with federated platform teams, working within their governance and standards frameworks
  • Respond to feedback from delivery squads — debugging integration issues, evolving patterns based on real-world usage, and building new platform assets as needs emerge
  • Treat consuming engineers as customers: design assets to be self-service, write the docs and examples that remove the need for a support ticket, and instrument usage so the team knows what’s actually being adopted
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and participate in design reviews with the Platform Team Lead
