Job summary

Monzo is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team in the UK. You’ll work on infrastructure tooling, cloud platforms, and developer experience to scale Monzo's services. The role blends platform and software engineering with a focus on reliability and performance.

The role offers a base salary of £95,000–£130,000 with incentive awards based on performance, and flexible working across the UK, with occasional London-based meetings.

Qualifications

• Software engineering experience with backend services using strongly typed languages.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP, and proficiency with Kubernetes.
• Automation and infrastructure as code experience (Terraform).
• Natural problem-solver with a curious mindset about distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Platform & Infrastructure Engineering: maintain foundational tools and systems.
• Develop backend services and APIs for a self-service platform experience for other engineers.
• Work on infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management and security tooling.
• Collaborate with teams to enable platform success and improve reliability.
