A leading bank is seeking a Software Development Lead to oversee and improve software solutions while mentoring engineers and managing risks. • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software solutions, ensuring they meet quality standards and project objectives
• Review and approve changes, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and coding standards. You will rationalise and simplify solutions before and during their build
• Mentor and guide engineers as required, working with the Chapter Lead to ensure appropriate guidelines, standards and processes are in place and applied consistently
• Drive continuous improvement in software development processes, tools, and methodologies
• Minimise the creation of any new technical debt by managing delivery priorities with long term stability
• Present technical concepts to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
• Encourage and participate in experimentation & innovation within the chapter and across teams to solve complex technical challenges

What you will need:
• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
• Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS services such as EKS, VPC, RDS, and S3, as well as Azure, Azure DevOps, and VMware.
• Proficiency with automation and infrastructure tools including Ansible, Terraform, and Packer, along with scripting languages like Python and Bash.
• Experience working with onshore and offshore teams and working in an environment that includes 3rd party vendors and suppliers
• A solid understanding of Linux administration, networking, container orchestration (, Kubernetes), and associated technologies like Istio, Karpenter, and Kong.
• Demonstrated experience in managing the full route to live, encompassing the automation of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with a focus on observability, security, code quality, infrastructure as code (IaC), and environment provisioning.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience communicating with stakeholders at all levels
