A leading financial services company is seeking an Engineer to manage and support two Data Centres in Clydebank and Hillington. The role includes hardware setup, network management, and providing essential support during incidents. Salary:£40,800 - £58,000- per annum DOE+ benefits
Location: Located close to Clydebank/Hillington as Data Centre attendance is required at times during the day and on call
Contract Type:Permanent - Full Time

Our Team

Our Data Centre team sit within the Core IAAS function and includes Storage Management, Mainframe and Networks.

We’re looking for an Engineer to bring expertise and knowledge in the management of our two Datacentres situated in Clydebank and Hillington.In the event of an incident, locality is key and the ability to travel to either site is essential.

Day to day you will help to build, implement, and support changes within the Datacentre environment and provide support to our partners and internal technical teams

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage the setup of new hardware and kit in the physical datacentres
  • Support decommissioning activities & safe removal of kit in the datacentres.
  • work to move and transfer kit between the Glasgow datacentre sites.
  • Liaise with internal teams to support the investigation of hardware errors and issues.
  • Support the management of network cabling and network switches.
  • Management of server power supplies to main distribution board
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of physical kit at the datacentres.
  • Carry out user access management for datacentres
  • Support attestation and governance activities for the datacentres.
  • Work with project, technical teams, and partners to ensure our solutions meet the organisation’s operational and strategic needs.
  • Identification of risk and swift resolution of issues while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Improve our delivery through innovation, continuous improvement, and automation

  • Powermax, Data Domain, Isilon upgrades
  • Netbackup Infrastructure upgrades
  • Netbackup Client upgrades
  • Hardware refreshes

    Patching
  • Netbackup Infrastructure and client patching
  • Powermax, Data Domain, Isilon bug fix / security patching
  • Storage Allocations
  • Open systems, Oracle and File share storage provisioning

    Backups
  • Backup and restore job failure troubleshooting
  • Backup policy management and configuration
  • Working with application teams to determine and implement their backup

We need you to have

  • Experience/knowledge in the management of datacentres.
  • An understanding of data hall design & layout including future planning and environmental controls.
  • Experience with server hardware.
  • Familiarity of network cabling such as ethernet and fibre.
  • Understanding of low voltage power supplies
